Going Blank
....For some reason, my mind is going blank. I can't think of anything I want to write about!!! And it doesn't help that this semester is turning out to be even worse than last semester and even more stressful, leaving me little time to blog in the first place. But I just wanted to let y'all know that I"m still alive, surviving, and I'll be back soon with something more interesting to read about, hopefully!Until then, come by and say hello, seems like a lot of the visitors here are too shy to say anything. I would love to meet some of our lurkers! Labels: Something about Nothing

My new distraction
Do you ever get so into reading a book ,that you forget to do anything else? You simply don't want to do anything else??
I'm currently reading Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found and I can't put it down!!! It's so damn addicting. All the underworld stories and personal experiences are extremely riveting. I'm only about half way into the book, but I'm really liking it so far. Have any of you read it? If not, I urge you to do so. Having only been to certain parts of Bombay on my family trips, I never saw nor experienced the many sides of this city so clearly written about in this book. It makes me want to take a trip back to Bombay now, just to see and feel and hear all the stuff that I apparently missed out or was completely ignorant of in my previous trips. If nothing else, this book is turning out to be a Maximum (and a welcome) distraction indeed!Labels: Literary Love, Randomness

We are all Phenomenal Women
That is, if you're a woman ;)I just read this wonderful poem by Maya Angelou. Simply Phenomenal!PHENOMENAL WOMAN
by Maya Angelou
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies
I'm not cute or built to suit a model's fashion size
But when
I start to tell them
They think I'm telling lies.
I say
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips
The stride of my steps
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please
And to a man
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees
Then they swarm around me
A hive of honey bees.
I say
It's the fire in my eyes
And the flash of my teeth
The swing of my waist
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say
It's in the arch of my back
The sun of my smile
The ride of my breasts
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.
Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say
It's in the click of my heels
The bend of my hair
The palm of my hand
The need for my care.
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.

A brief Golden Globe Re-Cap
Hey All,
Ok so I know most of you are probably reading this thinking, why, Why, WHY Payal are you watching a stupid award show! But, truthfully, I'm kinda addicted to these awards shows and all that comes with it: the fashion, seeing my favorite actors and actresses, the gossip, the funny speeches (depending on whose it is), and the wonderful escape it provides me from my boring life!
So, here's my little recap of the Golden Globes last night. Make of it what you will.
Speeches: I LOVED the speeches by Borat, House, and Betty (using their character names) HATED: Tom Hank's introduction, Warren Beatty's speech(which went on FOREVER), and Jaime Foxx's annoying banter before introducing his movie. Fashion: I surprisingly really liked Jennifer Lopez's dress. Helen Mirren looked regal. Rachel Weiz and Kate Winslet looked elegant. America just looked gorgeous!
Special shout-outs to America from Ugly Betty. Loved what she said about girls being more what they wished for and I love her character. Watch the show, it's great!
To Sendhil Ramamurthy for being on tv and announcing the award that was then presented Hugh Laurie! A truly fine moment! :)
To Sascha Cohen for one of the funniest speeches ever!! I was almost crying:)
